Welcome to South Coast Tutors. Are you looking for a Maths, English or 11+ Tutor? I am personally based in Broadstone, Poole, Dorset, mainly tutoring from a hub on the Nuffield Industrial Estate, but my colleagues cover Cole Hill, Corfe Mullen, Oakdale and beyond. My tutors and I provide expert Maths, English and 11+ tuition on an individual and group basis, face to face or online. I am a Maths specialist but work closely with colleagues who teach English, Maths, Science, primary subjects and more.

My name is Amelia Rood. I founded South Coast Tutors primarily to run intensive revision courses for 11+, GCSE and A level. I also tutor individuals and small groups. After completing my Mathematics degree at Trinity College Cambridge, I gained a PGCE from Bristol. I have taught in both the selective and non selective independent and state sectors as well as holding Head of Department and Deputy Head positions. I can cater for and bring on mathematically those of all abilities.

Our tutors cover all levels covered from Reception upwards, 11+, 13+, GCSE/IGCSE to A Level and STEP and other University Entrance Tests.

I am a qualified, experienced Maths teacher and examiner and tutor. This ensures I have an excellent understanding of the new GCSE and A level specifications as well as 11+ where I work with subject specialists to cover all aspects of the examination. I can provide excellent references and testimonials and have a recent enhanced DBS check. I can recommend excellent tutors to work with your child in the Poole/Bournemouth/Dorset area and online.

1-1 TUITION PRICES 2026

As an highly experienced teacher and examiner, for those looking for long term regular 1 to 1 tuition I generally charge £80-£85ph. I am able to offer shorter sessions, usually for younger children. I can arrange lessons weekly or fortnightly. Tuition in pairs at £45ph each or threes at £38ph each by arrangement. Ad hoc tuition from £80ph.

For those looking for 1:1 tuition for GCSE or A level examinations from March or later, tuition will be a minimum of £85ph

There are colleagues I can recommend who may be able to come to your home in the evenings or weekends if required. Prices likely to be FROM £60/£75ph for qualified experienced teachers, and FROM £25ph for support from an experienced Year 13 student or gap student with my support.

If you would prefer to join a small group (usually £28ph) this is also possible.

We are proud to be partnered with Tutors and Exams , a national exam centre so if you have tuition with us to do GCSEs or A levels outside of school you can be sure to have a centre where you can sit the exams.
